American Cancer Society – Relay for Life

This last weekend Sept 9th, Kristen Brenner was represent your Top Team at the Florida Division’s 2011 Relay For Life Team Development Summit and Volunteer Leadership Kickoff. The conference will be held at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando on September 9-10.

She represented the Marathon and Lower Keys Association of Realtors who were recognized as in the group of Over $15,000.00 raised for the Relay for Life Team.

During the weekend, we will celebrate how “Ordinary Heroes” across the state are having a heroic impact on the fight against cancer. She joined other Florida Division volunteers and staff leaders to celebrate our success from 2011 and prepare for the year ahead. Each of us also will have a special opportunity this year to enroll in the Cancer Prevention Study-III, a long-term American Cancer Society research study to gain live-saving insights in cancer prevention.

Kristen has enrolled in this long term research study to help in the fight against Cancer. Anyone can participate with the following qualifications.

You can join the movement for more birthdays and fight back against cancer by enrolling in a new research study called the Cancer Prevention Study Р3 (CPS-3). The American Cancer Society’s Epidemiology Research Program is inviting men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 years who have no personal history of cancer to join this historic research study. The ultimate goal is to enroll at least 300,000 adults from various racial/ethnic backgrounds from across the U.S. By joining CPS-3, you can help us understand how to prevent cancer, which will save lives and give people more of their most precious resource: time. More time with their families and friends, more memories, more celebrations . . . and more birthdays.

Study enrollment opportunities will take place at various venues in select communities across the United States and Puerto Rico. Lower Keys will be providing a registration site in April 2012 at the Relay For Life Event in Key West.

CPS-3 is a grassroots effort where local communities from across the country can support cancer research not just through fundraising efforts, but also by participating actively in this historic research study.
