Grassy Key is quiet community located between mile markers 57 – 60 and is one of the northernmost islands that comprise the incorporated City of Marathon. Grassy Key was incorporated with Marathon in 1999. The island community is sparsely developed compared to the City of Marathon proper.

Oceanside; Grassy Key is developed with spacious residential properties, Mom and Pop style resorts and a few commercial/restaurant developments. Many of the Oceanside properties offer sandy beach frontage and are accessible directly via Overseas Highway.

The Gulf side is shares a similar development mixture with several resorts, RV parks, restaurants, and the Dolphin Research Center. The Dolphin Research Center is a key attraction in the Middle Keys and Marathon areas which offers first hand contact and observation of our amiable ocean friends.

A key residential area of Grassy Key is the Morton Street area. Morton Street is located four blocks north of Overseas Highway and is populated with spacious Gulf front estate type properties. These properties enjoy spacious grounds and a natural privacy provided by the surrounding hardwood hammocks.

Many properties throughout Grassy Key are available for vacation rental which provide a significant supporting income stream to second home owners.
